The Nelson Wilder fine arts building is alive with activity. You might hear a concerto, a song, a guitar duet, and dancing feet any time of the day. Student artworks line the hallways. In the Remington Studio Theatre, you might catch a play rehearsal or new lighting techniques being tested.
Parrott Academy boasts a comprehensive arts program. General music, Suzuki strings, and creative movement are offered to the youngest students, with the other disciplines introduced over time. Students of all ages are offered opportunities to perform throughout the year. Our February musical production involves all the arts and about 80 students from across the arts’ disciplines. Our students have been chosen for All-State honors groups. They have been selected for Governor’s School. Colleges value extensive arts training and participation. Many students have pursued the arts in college at schools such as the Institute of the Arts and the ECU School of Music. Our students’ artwork hangs in Congress. They’ve performed at Carnegie Hall. They’ve appeared and stage managed shows on Broadway. The faculty works very closely and encourages interdisciplinary study. Take a walk through the building, it will be an experience to remember.
